AMY DEASISMONT is a creator, screenwriter, director, artist and actor. She started her career fifteen years ago as a recording artist and has since then continued her path in various areas of the performing arts. Apart from acting, Amy is now dedicated to creating, writing and directing for film and tv.
Amy’s original series ”Thunder in my heart” season 2 premiered 2023 at Viaplay, where Amy returned as creator, head writer, episode director — as well as played the lead role. The series won Best Youth Drama 2023 at Kristallen (Swedish Emmys), as well as was nominated for Best Lead Actor (Alexander Abdallah) and Best Supporting Actor (Gustaf Hammarsten).
"Thunder in my heart" season 1 premiered in 2021, she created and wrote the series entirely herself and co-directed episodes together with Anders Hazelius (conceptual director) and Sanna Lenken (episode director). Amy also played the lead role. It was produced by B-Reel Films for Viaplay. Amy won the award for Best Actress for "Thunder in my heart” and the series was also nominated for Best Drama Series at Kristallen (Swedish Emmy) in 2021. The show was a huge success both among critics and viewers.
Amy also worked as an episode writer for Swedish drama series called “Heartbeats”, based on the Norwegian format “Hjerteslag”, a show which premiered early 2022 on TV4/Cmore.
Amy has previously worked as an actress in many tv, film and theatre productions, e.g. the feature "My skinny sister" (dir. Sanna Lenken), the drama series "Gösta" (HBO / dir. Lukas Moodysson) and most recently in 2021; the drama series “Knutby” (TV4 Cmore / dir. Goran Kapetanovic).
Having portrayed complex characters as an actress, Amy has a deep understanding of the importance of authentic dialogue and well written characters for a story to connect with an audience. Amy’s writing is character-driven and when writing about romantic love she’s interested in finding relatable, moving and funny ways to portray the difficult, exhilarating and sometimes painful parts of being in a relationship.
Amy is usually drawn to writing stories about the power dynamics between family members. Her writing is funny, dark and quirky. She loves mixing drama with comedy and often finds herself writing about people who are going through some form of life-crisis. As she is bilingual, she writes in both Swedish and English.
