KARIN FAHLÉN studied at Cambridge and at the Swedish Dramatic institute in Stockholm and has more than 30 years of experience in film, TV, radio, theatre, and music videos. When she took her place in the director’s chair she did so with immediate acclaim, swiftly gaining recognition for the great ease with which she moves between drama, crime, and comedy.
Fahlén first feature film Stockholm Stories, a contemporary and humorous multi-plot drama, had its world premiere at the Chicago International Film festival in 2013. The film was well-received at various film festivals around the world and gained fantastic reviews, earning Fahlén the Swedish Television´s New Filmmaker of the Year Award.
Fahlén went on to work as creative director and development executive at Sthlm Homerun and Black Spark Film & TV where she was involved in numerous projects within the companies and in collaboration with other production companies.
2017 marked the theatrical release of Fahlén’s latest feature film “All Inclusive”, a charismatic and sparkling comedy-drama about an eventful vacation in Croatia. The film drew a noteworthy audience and became the second most seen film of the year.
Fahlén has conceptualized and directed the major Cmore/TV4 crime series 2018, “STHLM Requiem”, a stylish, intense, and hair-raising crime series based on a series of bestselling novels by Kristina Ohlsson. The series was well-received in Sweden and UK as well as other countries through Europe.
At present Fahlén is developing three feature films, “Childbride” a historical costume drama based on a young woman´s struggle in the royal court of Sweden. “NO bloody NO”, a nerve-racking comedy divorce drama with complications. Lastly “The Matriarch”, a comedy-drama about an eccentric mother and her staged family reunion in Venice. Fahlén’s latest work is being the lead director of all episodes of the thriller series“Hostage” at Cmore/TV4.
