Sara Abdollahi (b. 1981) is a critic and essayist. She has, among other things, been the editor-in-chief of the magazines Författaren and Ottar, and has hosted several literature podcasts, including the widely acclaimed "Hysteria," which focused on and featured creative women. She is a member of the assessment committee for the Nordic Council's Literature Prize, where she was elected chairperson in 2021.
In recent years, she has contributed to the culture section of the biggest newspapers in Sweden, including Expressen, Dagens Nyheter, Svenska Dagbladet, and Göteborgs-Posten. Abdollahi has received a scholarship from the Swedish Academy and has served on the jury for the Swedish Photo Book Prize. She has also been part of the author panel on the TV-program "Babel" and is regularly invited to comment on the Nobel Prize and the August Prize. Abdollahi portrays herself as a critic in the hit TV-series “Love and Anarchy” about the Swedish publishing industry. Today, she is also active as an editor and writer in the iconic interdisciplinary and international magazine SITE zones, a continuation of SITE magazine.
In addition to writing about literature and art, Sara is currently working on a fiction project of her own, exploring themes such as class, displacement, social vulnerability, mental fragility, dreams, and death, and how these aspects both influence and are influenced by the human condition.
