Selma Blanck, a prominent doctor and wife of Sweden's Minister of Justice, wakes up in a bloody bed in a boutique hotel in Gamla stan in Stockholm. Next to her lies a male colleague, brutally murdered. Their bodies bear witness to a night together, but everything else is shrouded in mystery. Who carried out the horrific ritual murder? And why?

Selma contacts her husband in panic, who quickly realises that a scandal could ruin their lives. He sends his best man to cover all tracks, but there are forces at play that go far deeper than either of them could have imagined.

Detective Inspector Árni Wolf, a seasoned investigator who favours unconventional methods, is assigned to the case. As he begins to dig into the murder, riddled with secrets and power plays, a sinister picture emerges. The question is, will Wolf have time to find the elusive killer before ‘The Conductor’ strikes again?

“The Conductor” will be the first installment of Ivener’s new crime series about Detective Àrni Wolf, to be published in the autumn 2025.
