The summer of 1941 is uncommonly hot. By the docks, Stockholm city dwellers sunbathe in rowing boats as prime minister Per Albin Hansson delivers his historic speech to the nation, proclaiming Swedish neutrality in the Second World War. Signe spends her time in the Stockholm archipelago at the summer house of Professor Svartström, and Iris is asked to do work for the Swedish Military Heritage Association. But when an alarming letter arrives from Iris’ sister in Estonia, and the strange context of Iris’ escape to Sweden comes to light, the women are soon drawn into a plot that requires them at their best to untangle who to trust in the chaos of a world war.

THE FOURTH DOCTRINE is the fourth part in Denise Rudberg's historical novel series. Elisabeth, Signe and Iris are based on the author's own family and depict Sweden during World War II.
