Isabella Rodriguez is a film director, screenwriter, and producer. Her work often blends intelligent comedy with sharp observations of contemporary society, emotional depth, and playful experimentation with genre and form. She holds a BA in Film Production from Stockholm University of the Arts.
Her first TV series, the sketch comedy Bauta, premiered in 2017 and focused on the fast-changing landscape of political correctness. Isabella wrote, directed, and starred in the series alongside six co-stars. The series received unanimously positive reviews.
In 2019, her second series, Course in Self-Annihilation, premiered. Based on the comic book by Henrik Bromander, it featured breakout star Evelyn Mok in one of her first roles and marked Jonatan Unge’s acting debut. Her third series, Drugdealer, was co-created and written alongside Jonatan Unge, who also took on the lead role.
Isabella’s recent work includes directing the acclaimed TV series Tabita’s Tattoo, starring comedy icon Mia Skäringer. One critic described the show as “heartbreaking entertainment.”
In 2025, Isabella’s debut short film 12 Points premiered as part of the prestigious Echoes initiative, in which six short films were awarded 1 million SEK each under the theme of Swedish music.
Her adaptation of Romeo & Juliet premiered on Swedish Radio in 2025v – a comic reimagining of the classic play. Isabella currently has several projects in development and post-production, with more details to be announced.
In addition to her work as a director and screenwriter, Isabella is an accomplished producer with a portfolio that includes numerous short films and two feature-length productions. Her films have screened at prestigious festivals around the world.
